Like mother, like daughter

Our small group women met at Caryn’s house recently. Here’s what I saw on a handy shelf in Caryn’s kitchen.

Guess what was on Carysse’s kitchen shelf?

That little green book is a New Testament.

My mother used to tell me that actions speak louder than words. That may be an overstatement, but actions–examples–do indeed shout.

  1. This is one of my all time favorite posts.
    So simple.
    So true.
    They see what we do.
    Ah–the conviction.
    Oh–the inspiration.
    Thank you.

  2. Thank you Jesus! Our hearts desire, O Lord, as mothers is that our lives point to You! May our older children, as they “wander” notice our gaze as parents is still toward the Sovereign Savior and look toward you as well.

  3. Beautiful! I love that her 3-D glasses and secret decoder are there too…my 5 year old likes to wear his 3-D glasses like sunglasses. :)
Thanks for sharing, I bookmarked Caryn’s blog so I can read more.

  4. That is so precious. Thank you for the affirmation of what our ministry as moms can be. Recently my son (2 years old) lifted up my Bible and said, “mommy’s favorite book” and I dared to hope that he might feel the same way! Those two photos brought tears to my eyes.

  5. Oh Noel,
This post truly blessed me more than you know. I’ve been burdened by my many insufficiencies as a mom to adequately point my children to Jesus. You posting this brought tears to my eyes and encouragement to my soul.
When I think of your role in my life, Proverbs 13:20a comes to mind, “Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise.” I thank God that you’re my mentor but mostly that you’re my dear friend. I Love You!

  6. Oh that it would be obvious to others (but mostly the Lord!) that WE each follow and copy Jesus as this little girl is discipled by her mother.

  7. So glad to have found your blog, and what a great first post to read. I love this!! One of my little girls who cannot yet read still wants to faithfully share each night what she “read” in her Bible reading. She always says, “God loves me.”

  8. Oh, I love it. God humbled me a few months ago when my kids came in to cuddle in the morning. I usually spend the time before they wake up in the Word, but this time I was reading a book. My daughter chirped: “Can you move your Bible, so I can cuddle with you?”
I pray that seeing me start my day with God is the one thing they’ll remember growing up.

  9. That is utterly precious!
