The center of the center
Our sermon this weekend was from John 8:31: “So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, ’If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples. . .’”
Since Jesus said, “my word” instead of “my words,” he’s talking about his whole teaching. And his whole teaching is pointing to himself as the way, the truth, the life. . . the living water . . . the bread of life. So “my word,” means Jesus. Abide in Jesus.
Ending the service, my husband said this week leading up to Easter would be the perfect time to spend time in each of the Gospels, reading about the final days before Jesus’ death.
Jesus is the center. And the cross is the center of the center.
At the Desiring God website, he has listed particular passages that can help us make Holy Week holy to the Lord.
