Our babies at church

A few days ago I asked: What would make church work better for parents with young children?

Today I want to pay tribute to one of the greatest ways a church can minister to families with babies and toddlers. That’s providing nursery care so that parents can worship undistractedly.

Good nursery care doesn’t just happen. I’ve watched one of my sisters develop a nursery program at her church, and I’m friends with women who are responsible for nursery ministries at Bethlehem. It comes by much prayer, planning, time, and the shedding of someone’s blood, sweat, and tears–literally, literally, and literally.

Thank you, Lord, for the brothers and sisters who give themselves for our babies.

  1. Yes! We’ve always been blessed with childcare where we’ve gone to church so I really don’t stop and think about all the work that goes into it.

Another thing that would help a lot of young families is babysitting so they can attend small groups. I realize that this is above and beyond, but some people don’t have the extended family or resources to call upon to be able to really join a small group.

  2. I couldn’t agree more! :-)
