Me too, please

orison and abrahamFive-year-old Orison: “Daddy, when I’m asleep and you check on me before you go to bed, will you please say, ‘I’m here.’”

Yes! I hear myself saying the same thing to God. Except for the part about going to bed, because he never sleeps.

In my sleep, Lord, please whisper to me, “I’m here.”

  1. Great analogy, so true! I pray for the same thing.
As humans, we are so vulnerable in the night, and child-like (or at least I am).
There is no warmer bed covering than Christ’s covering of love. There is no better night light, than the light of His merices and grace.

    So thankful He doesn’t sleep.

  2. I love that little boy’s face. So open and trusting, reflecting the certainty of response to his request.

  3. I like this analogy as much as the passage I read in Exodus recently.
“God saw the people of Israel–and God knew.” l
Loving God who never sleeps and always knows us whether we are sleeping or not.

  4. Lovely. And true.

  5. I’ve been rereading the Easter section of Treasuring God in our Traditions, and I’m wondering whether your children participated in Easter egg hunts or coloring Easter eggs and whether you purchased the traditional baskets filled with candy. Thanks!

  6. Sometimes I wake up singing and I know He’s been ministering to me all night long. Once one of my children fell asleep to my singing and I was back in his room when he awoke the next morning. He smiled up at me and said,”Thankyou Mommy, for being here all night!” With God, I know He really is.
