Update on Haiti

“We have two choices–to die fast or to die slow.”

Please take the time to watch this TV program. It’s a haunting, heart-wrenching look at the past 6 weeks, with difficult questions about how the future can be different than the past for Haiti.

  1. I’m getting a message that this is not accessible in Canada, is there another way of seeing it?

  2. I am always so encouraged by reading your blog. Thank you for your faithful ministry.

I was given a blog award that is to be passed on. Yours truly is a “Beautiful Blog.” Go to my blog if you would like to participate.

  3. Hi Noel,

Thank you for posting this video. I returned from Haiti last week after my wife and I spent 7 days working there with 2 Dominican churches (which BBC will be partnering with as well). As a pastor, I sought to spend as much time with the Haitian people as possible, speaking with them about their spiritual lives and praying for them. My wife spent her time providing medical assistance (She’s a PA).

What this video doesn’t address is that the greatest problem in Haiti is not the lack of tents and water and food, but the lack of the true gospel. As a nation that has been bombarded with American missionaries for decades, it is sad and very telling that the majority of the individuals I spoke with (hundreds), while claiming to be Christians, did not know the gospel. The majority of what America has exported has not been the gospel, but rather a hodge-podge of various beliefs and ideas. Meaningful and lasting change will not come through government assistance, money, bags of rice or water, although some of this is very necessary in the beginning. Rather, it will take a sustained effort of Christians who are faithful to rebuild churches and train pastors to be biblical and God-centered in their lives and ministries. Men who God will raise up to lead His Church in Haiti will be the success of a new Haiti that moves forward from its dark past. May God bless and keep those who are working to this end, and may He call a people onto Himself who will give their lives to making much of Jesus in Haiti, for the joy of the people.

I was not able to view it through email either, but easily found the Charlie Rose update. Thanks
