Made in God’s image

Patrick Hughes: “God made me blind and unable to walk. Big deal.”

Patrick’s father: “Maybe . . . they recognize, ‘Wow! Imagine the possibilities I didn’t even consider when I saw this young man.’”

  1. Wow! Extraordinary! How inspiring… I’m a person with disability myself and I discovered some time ago that physical handicaps are God’s investments in us, so that He can show His Glory. The same in this case.
    Thank you for this video!

    Blessings and love in Christ,

  3. Thank you, God. Thank you, Patrick’s family. Well done, Patrick.

  4. Thank you for blessing my day! I showed this to my 5 & 7 year old sons who don’t always want to practice the piano…:-)

  5. Wow….that’s really all I can say. This is very inspiring and just a reminder that God’s ways are not our ways — but they are best! What a mind-blowing God we serve!

  6. Enjoyed this – thank you for posting!

  7. Noel,

    I am dabbing my eyes….

  8. I am simply speechless…

  9. How great is our Lord! It is just so hard for us in this flesh to see the big picture at times. Thanks for posting this.

  10. A disability can be hard within a family but it also can be the tool God uses to bring a family closer. What an awesome relationship between father and son. Praise God for this family and how they show glory to Him. Thank you for posting!

  11. Such an inspiring story! It reminds me of when the disciples asked Jesus the question in John 9 “who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” And Jesus tells them that it was neither, but that the works of God might be displayed in him. To God be the glory!

  12. Absolutely amazing – God’s creation is nothing short of artistic brilliance…Wow.

  14. Right on. Suffering CAN and DOES bring people closer to God.

  18. This is amazing. Thank you for sharing this. I am really inspired by the Father as well as the son. He could have been bitter and angry at God, but instead, he saw the door that God had opened. How often do we complain about our healthy kids and the sacrifices we make for them (i.e. I’m sick of cleaning up after these kids or I’m so tired from waking up with sick children). This man works hard and goes to school with his son. What an inspiration..the whole family!

  19. God Bless that father & son. To God be all the Glory….Amen!

  20. Extraordinary! Thanks for posting.

  21. What an encouragement for Fathers of a special needs child as I am. This is a poignant example of Rom.8:28 and why we are to persevere in hope even when the circumstances move us to discouragement. In hope against hope, Abraham believed.

  22. Praise God! Thanks!

Wow! Thank you for sharing what God has created.

  24. I am so moved by the faith and courage of this family. It was humbling for me to see the dedication of these parents to their son, they decided early in Patrick’s life that they would give him as normal a life a possible. They are extraordinary people. It is obvious God’s amazing grace in their lives. Patrick demonstrates the gift of encouragement and blesses those around him. Thank you for sharing this video with us who need to spend more time thanking the Lord for the blessings we have. Great success at University Patrick!

  28. AWESOME!!!! I am so thankful for people like Patrick and his dad. They both have incredible gifts that they are using for God’s glory. Just wonderful!!!!

  29. What an amazing young man, and because he has a constant smile on his face, you don’t “see” his disabilities, or as he puts it you “see his ABILITIES!” And what a Dad! A real hero!

  30. Man, what a gifted guy and what an attitude of gratitude. Patrick focuses on what he has rather than what he doesn’t have. We can all learn from him. What a blessing to me and to so many, I’m sure. May our precious Lord continue to bless him abundantly.
